  10. GENERAL INFORMATION
  11.  
  12.         MOSTHOST is a complete host mode in the {COMMO} macro language.
  13.         The host mode can be used to remotely access your machine, or
  14.         you can set it up so friends or associates can call to send or
  15.         receive files to/from your system.
  16.  
  17.         All callers can upload and download to/from one specified
  18.         directory ("filedir" in MOSTHOST configuration).  From the
  19.         password protected DOS menu you can change to any desired
  20.         directory.

  24.                 * File transfers
  25.                 * Sysop chat with word wrap
  26.                 * A complete DOS access menu (password protected)
  27.                 * Using DOORWAY by Marshall Dudley you can
  28.                     access DOS directly from remote.

  31. INSTALLATION
  32.  
  33.         All you need to do to get MOSTHOST working is:
  34.  
  35.         (1) Create two sub-directories beneath your {COMMO} directory
  36.             called MHDATA and MHFILE (configurable in MOSTHOST.MAC).
  37.  
  38.         (2) Make sure that MOSTHOST.MAC is in your {COMMO} home
  39.             directory.
  40.  
  41.         MHDATA will contain the users' password files, so keep it
  42.         separate from MHFILE which will be accessible to all callers
  43.         for uploading and downloading.  As sysop, you can use your DOS
  44.         password to access any directory on your computer.
  45.  
  46.         Assuming that {COMMO} is loaded into a directory called COMMO
  47.         on C: drive, here is the procedure:

  49.                 C:\COMMO> md mhdata
  50.                 C:\COMMO> md mhfile
  51.                 C:\COMMO> commo
  52.  
  53.         Now you are in {COMMO}.  Use ALT-U to select the utility menu.
  54.         From there you can edit the configuration of MOSTHOST or run
  55.         it.  Observe the following carefully:
  56.  
  57.         * Before running MOSTHOST the serial port must be set to the
  58.           correct speed for your modem: 2400, 9600, 19200, etc.
  59.  
  60.         * If your modem requires Hardware Flow Control, be sure it is
  61.           turned on in {COMMO} and in your modem before you start
  62.           MOSTHOST.  NOTE:  The MOSTHOST will hang if Hardware Flow
  63.           Control is on and CTS is off (may happen if your modem is
  64.           off).  If this happens when you are trying to test in local
  65.           mode, press Esc and use Alt-T to turn Hardware Flow Control
  66.           off (turn it back on when you are ready to take calls).

  68.         * If you use external protocol programs (DSZ.COM, GSZ.EXE,
  69.           HSLINK.EXE, etc.) and they are not in the {COMMO} home
  70.           directory, change the configuration item in MOSTHOST so that
  71.           it points to the proper directory.

  74. ENHANCED VERSION OF MOSTHOST
  75.  
  76.         A greatly enhanced version of the MOSTHOST is available to
  77.         registered {COMMO} users.  It lets you set up your own little
  78.         BBS.  Added features include: messaging with word-wrap,
  79.         bulletins, expert mode, hot menus, separate files for menus
  80.         (for easy customizing, adding color, etc.), file descriptions
  81.         for uploads, scheduled events, and more.  See REGISTER.FRM for
  82.         ordering details.
